About 

Honey Hill School was established in 2020. The program has grown so much since then! Located next to Deer Creek and nestled amongst the trees, children come to Honey Hill School ready to learn through play. So many of the families who attend are here for years, creating a School Family where everyone feels safe and welcome. In addition to the beautiful outdoor experiences, children also experience regular visits from an art educator, field trips all around Whatcom County and events in the classroom that make their days extra special.  

Educators

Lindsey Gabriel
Teacher & Owner

Lindsey holds a BA in Early Childhood Education, taught in a Head Start classroom for five years and another local family child care for six before creating Honey Hill School. Lindsey loves building strong bonds with her families that last years and she enjoys documenting the growth of children over time to see just how far they come! 

When she is not teaching, she can be found creating art with her daughters, binging Golden Girls or snuggling her chickens.

Saul Badillo
Teacher

Saul is the spouse of Lindsey Gabriel and a lead teacher at Honey Hill School. He formerly taught for Head Start and is valued for his skills in supporting social and emotional learning especially. He also is a strong leader in building literacy and numeracy skills through routine and engaging activities.

When he is done teaching for the day, Saul can be found playing basketball with his daughter or boardgames with his family.

Kheairah Halbig 
​Teacher

Kheairah has been a caregiver and teacher to people of all ages and brings a calming warmth to the classroom. Her experience in the great outdoors shines when the kiddos are on adventures or simply digging for worms on a rainy day out in the woods. 

When Kheairah is not getting messy and creative with our young friends, she is tending to her farm animals or garden with her daughter or going for hikes.

Kiki Bee, the Honey Hill School Bumble Bee

K drew numerous bumble bees our program in 2021 and when she was satisfied with one, she helped create a linocut so we could have it forever. K was 4 at the time, and had many interests! Namely her black cat, Jiji. In honor of K's favorite movie, we have named her bumble bee and our school mascot, "Kiki Bee." 

The young artist would like her fans and followers to know that in her free time she enjoys playing with Ali and Dusty and cuddling her dog, Reptar. Additionally, digging in the dirt and playing outside are important hobbies of her's.
