Curriculum
Creative Curriculum focuses on the whole-child. Children dictate what they want to investigate and CC provides the framework to create experiences that promote literacy, numeracy, social/emotional, cognitive and physical development.
Creative Curriculum is used nationally by such programs as Head Start and the YMCA. Second Step for early childhood and its Child Protection Unit helps children develop important social/emotional skills for school success. These include focusing attention, self-regulation, building positive relationships.

Conscious Discipline is a brain-science informed practice that builds important "social-emotional and communication skills needed to manage themselves, resolve conflict and develop healthy behavior." This is done through creating strong connections between the adults and children in their lives both at school and at home.
The Devereux Early Childhood Assessment and curriculum assess important areas of development that build resiliency skills in children. These include attachment to others, self-regulation skills and initiative. It is with the DECA we can see a child's strengths and use those as a foundation for other important skills that lead to successful learners and community members.

Children love to tell their life experiences through drawings and early writing in these David Matteson writing journals. Weekly, children who are 3+ are building their letter knowledge, fine motor skills, ability to sequence events and recall stories, etc.
Teaching Strategies Gold is a documentation system that helps educators and families track their child's growth across over 30 areas. TSG makes it easy to identify strengths and set goals.
Honey Hill School uses TSG in conjunction with developmental screeners such as the ASQ and other techniques to create a robust and whole picture of how a child learns, grows and experiences life. |
Early Intervention Services
& Meeting Individual Needs
The earlier needed interventions and adaptions can be identified and provided, the better. Honey Hill School provides annual hearing and vision screenings starting at age 2 for all enrolled children.
Additionally, the program partners with a local speech and language clinic to offer weekly speech services to qualifying children and monthly occupational therapy support.
Honey Hill School is proud to partner with a local clinical social worker who has over 30 years of experience working with children and families. The program utilizes her skills to observe the classroom and share ideas on how to better meet the emotional needs of all students and staff. Her services are also available to families.
We welcome any preexisting service providers such as ABA therapists for example, to work with children during their school day here.
Any child who will begin services during their day while in the program must have an Individual Care Plan on file as well as signed permission from a parent or guardian. Our community partners will have their own paperwork that must be completed as well.
